Hi there, I’m Farnoosh Brock. Welcome. I am the creator of “Crack the Code to Get Promoted” and a career expert that helps you get ahead at your job. Today, I want to help you find an extra hour a day to advance your career.
You’re probably thinking you don’t have an extra minute. Where are you going to find a whole hour?
How to dig up an extra hour to advance your career
So, let’s look at how you spend your day. Are you using your hours effectively, because most of us don’t really think about how our times are spent, and that’s why we are always running after time and always late, and always short on time.
1. On Your Way to and from Work
For example, when you take a commute to work or you’re in public transit going to and from work, what are you doing? Are you just zoning out? Are you listening to a random radio station? Are you listening to the news? How could you using that time more effectively, whether it’s ten minutes or an hour?
2. At the Gym
Another time where you may be rethinking how the time is spent is at the gym. You’re on the machine, maybe the TV is playing in the back or whatever is going on, and you’re not really doing much. Of course, you’re exercising, but what else could you be doing at the same time to advance your career?
3. Random Breaks during your Workday
Another pocket of time you don’t think about is the random breaks at work, maybe lunch hour break, maybe afternoon coffee break, and you can think about how that time is spent right now, and then ask yourself, what can you do to make that time more effective to advance your career?
First, Identify Your Pocket of Time
So, the first task here is to identify the pocket of time that you need to improve in your day. It’s different for all of us. And start with a 30 minute pocket or an hour if you want, but the point is it doesn’t have to be sequential.
It doesn’t have to be a whole free hour because that’s the problem- most of us don’t have a whole free hour, but you can probably find 15 minutes here, 30 minutes here and then, once you have identified that for yourself, you want to use that time to educate yourself.
Second, Make Smart Use of that Time
Education is the power behind advancing your career. You can listen to audio programs. You can listen to podcasts. You can listen to audio books. You can download seminars and listen to a coaching program you recorded, and so much audio information out there. You can put it on your device and just listen. As you do that, you feel more in charge of your time, which puts you back in the driver’s seat; makes you feel like you’re in charge of your career.
So, educating yourself during those pockets of time where you are not maximizing your brain power is the key to finding an hour in your day and advancing your day by focusing on your career during that hour.
So, your task here is to identify the pocket of time. Identify the subject matter you want to learn, such as something you’re interested in, a topic you need to learn about, a place where you need to deepen your skill, identify some source of audio information, or book, or something that you can fill the time with, and then spend a week using that pocket of time as effectively as possible by focusing on advancing your career all on your own.
The Proven Audio Program for Advancing Your Career
In fact, I created “Crack the Code to Get Promoted” entirely as an audio program because I want you listen to it while you’re on the go. So, I hope that was useful to you and I’ll see you in the next video. Bye!
